The following area students have earned Semester Honors for the Spring 2018 semester at Edgewood College. Fulltime students who achieve a 3.5 grade point average for the semester are eligible for this honor.
Genesee Community College's Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society inducted new members at the Celebration of Excellence held on Tuesday, May 8 in the new Richard C. Call Arena. Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through scholarship, leadership, and service.
For the 17th year, the poetry contest illuminated the unique and impressive talents of GCC's students. On Tuesday, April 17, 2018 the five winning students were honored at an awards and recognition ceremony in the Alfred C. O'Connell Library where they each received a certificate, gift card, and a journal to encourage them to continue their writing.

Seven members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team were selected to the 2014 D3football.com All-America Teams, the Web site announced in late December prior to the start of the NCAA Division III national championship game.

Garfinkel Essay Contest sponsored by the Historical Society of New York Courts. Danielle Kinney, Anna Lewis and Shannon Dent were recognized at an awards ceremony in the New York Court of Appeals Courtroom on Law Day, May 1, 2017. The Garfinkel Essay contest invites community college students from around the state to submit essays on topics of legal relevance. This year they were charged with addressing the question: "YOU, the Voter: How far have we come? Is the journey over?" The No. 1 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team defeated third-ranked Mount Union (Ohio) on Dec. 19 by a score of 43-34 to win Stagg Bowl XLII, the 2014 NCAA Division III national championship game, at Salem Stadium.
